Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. The largest of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's career. In times, her family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran says that her father was a drunk who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
